Innovation for Creativity Development Association (ICDA)

A Jordanian cultural association registered with the Ministry of Culture in 2013, concerned with discovering, developing and empowering the abilities of children and youth by providing various academic, artistic, educational and social services to them and those working with them, especially in areas related to talent, creativity and innovation. The association has several educational and training projects in various fields of creativity, the most important of which are the Future Scientists Project and its competition, the Mental Arithmetic for All Project, the Speed ​​Reading Project, electronics programs, training programs for teachers and youth, and others.

StarT Competition – Jordan

StarT – Jordan

A competition organized by the Innovation Association for Creativity Development, the representative of the LUMA Centre in Jordan, according to the cooperation agreement between the association and the LUMA Centre – Finland, so that the competition is organized at the level of Jordan in cooperation with scientific and educational institutions. The association seeks to participate and sponsor universities, headed by the University of Jordan, as is the case in the Future Scientists Competition, which has been held at the level of the Kingdom for 5 years. The winning teams in the Start Jordan Competition are nominated to participate at the global level in February 2020.

Competition objectives

  • Promote project-based learning and active collaboration within and beyond the learning community.

  • Encouraging young people to take an interest in science, technology and mathematics and enhancing their scientific skills.

  • Encourages interdisciplinary, project-based and phenomenon-based learning that puts science and technology in a context that is relevant to students and makes learning both exciting and meaningful.

  • Students at all ages from early childhood to high school learn collaboratively by implementing multidisciplinary projects in groups that allow science, mathematics and technology to be integrated naturally with any life-related subject.

  • Students get real-life experiences in science, technology and mathematics.

  • Partnerships are formed to collaborate with companies, researchers, other schools, universities and organizations where learning can be fun, informative, collaborative and effective at the same time.

LUMA Finland Centre and Innovation Association for Creativity Development

LUMA Network is a network for science, technology and mathematics education in Finnish universities. It is a link with education partners from schools, institutions, associations or even families. It is a platform for exchanging educational experiences and making education fun for children and adults. It works to ensure high quality science, technology and mathematics education in Finland.

LUMA Centre organizes an annual competition for best educational practices for learning communities and a project competition for students. In 2017-2018, a number of students, teachers and institutions participated in several projects, a number of which were qualified to advanced levels. The winning teams were hosted on a trip to Finland and honored in a special ceremony.

Innovation for Creativity Development Association (ICDA) won the grand prize in the competition in the field of best educational practices in 2018 for the Future Scientists project, which the association organizes annually in Jordan.

The Innovation for Creativity Development Association (ICDA) and the LUMA Finland Centre signed a Memorandum of Understanding on areas of cooperation and a special cooperation agreement that includes organizing the LUMA StarT competition in Jordan, where the winning teams at the Jordanian level will be nominated for the competition at the global level.

Learning communities participate in the best educational practices for teachers, which are based on multidisciplinary project-based learning, where students learn different sciences, skills, and positive attitudes towards science, learning, and cooperation.
