Ebtikar Is the First International LUMA StarT Ambassador
The Ebtikar Association for Creativity Development organized a ceremony honoring the winners of the Future Scientists and Luma Start 2023 competition
Under the auspices of His Excellency the Minister of Education and Higher Education and in cooperation with the University of Jordan on Wednesday 9-August-2023 .
Professor Maija Aksela, Director of the Science, Mathematics and Technology Network of the LUMA Centre in Finland / University of Helsinki, participated in the honoring ceremony, and presented the diploma of LUMA StarT Global Ambassador to Mrs.Surayya Ayyad, President of the Association for cooperation and outstanding success in implementing the Start program in Jordan since 2018. Professor Maija Aksela noted that This diploma is given for the first time in the history of the program since its establishment at the University of Helsinki and its extension to all Finnish universities.
It is worth noting that the LUMA StarT competition is held at the local level in Jordan in close cooperation with the Faculty of Science and the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship at the University of Jordan. Jordanian teams representing best educational practices projects in schools and student scientific projects have achieved advanced positions over the course of five years at the international level.
The participants, headed by Prof. Dr. Enaam Khalaf, Vice President of the University of Jordan, valued in her speech these achievements and this cooperation in order to achieve a bright future for our children and our country under his inspiring Hashemite leadership. The representative of His Excellency the Minister of Education, Dr Saleh Alomary. It is consistent with the Ministry’s philosophy of supporting scientific research, thinking and creativity, as our students were able through this competition, which started in 2015, to achieve great and remarkable achievements locally and globally, under the guidance of their honorable teachers, and the support of their parents. In her turn, the President of the Association explained the role of the Association in organizing this competition and training students and teachers on the methodology of the competition, and that this initiative is not just a competition, but rather an approach that contributes to raising teachers’ competencies and students’ skills in project-based learning, applying the integrative approach in teaching and learning, supporting students’ innovations and creativity, and developing their skills in specialized programs organized by the association. She also thanked all the supporters and partners in this program, the teachers and their supporting schools, and the distinguished students who are the pillar of this country and its bright future.
